BREGUET TYPE XX 3800 AERONAVALE
Breguet has a long history with the French Naval Aviation, also know as the Aéronavale. Abraham-Louis Breguet was appointed watchmaker for the French Royal Navy back in 1815, and the brand has always kept this link with the Navy. The Type 20 was launched for them in 1954 with an amount of 2000 watches, and then the French Navy requested another batch of 500 watches with a particular minute register (from 30 minutes to 15 minutes, as the pilots were required to do a pre-flight that lasted 15 minutes).
The Type 20 (military version) became the Type XX (civil version) in 1995 when Breguet decided to launch a new generation of their Fly-back chronograph, with reference 3800. This particular watch that we have here is one of the very first examples that is fitted with a gold-capped crown. Note that the early examples like this one were depth rated to 200m while the second generation of the reference 3800 are depth rated to only 100m.
